The policies, benefits, conduct rules, leave conventions, and employment practices that apply to TechAbout employees.
Leave Policy
At TechAbout, we believe family is the most important part of any person's life. Unlike companies that pressure employees to take fewer leaves than they deserve, we encourage our people to use their full entitlement and spend meaningful time with family. Employees who rest well return more refreshed and more productive.
This policy sets out leave entitlements, encashment and sandwich-leave rules, the conventions for applying for and approving leave, special provisions for the Support Team, and the company holiday calendar.
Leave Entitlements
Leave entitlements depend on an employee's length of service after being made permanent. All maternity leave is paid.
Within the First Year of the Permanent Period

Earned Leave (Encashment)
After completing one year, employees may encash their unused casual and annual leave. Sick, maternity, paternity, and wedding leave are not included in the encashment system.
The encashment amount is calculated as follows:
Encashment amount = (Gross Salary ÷ 30) × Total untaken leave days
Sandwich Leave
Sandwich leave is not granted at TechAbout. When leave spans a weekend, the intervening holiday counts as leave. For example, an absence from Wednesday to Monday counts as 6 days of leave rather than 4.
Directors' Leave
Any leave that does not fall under the categories listed above is treated as Directors' Leave. Directors reserve 5 days to grant discretionary leave approvals at their discretion.
Conventions for Taking Leave (Excluding Support Team)
The following rules apply to all leave except sick leave:
- To apply for a 1-day leave, you must apply 2 days in advance. Leave is granted only if the application is approved first by the Team Leader and then by HR.
- To apply for leave of more than one day, you must apply 7 days in advance. Leave is granted only if the application is approved by your Team Leader and HR.
- Emergencies can occur at any time. For emergency leave, you must contact the in-charge person on that day. That person will assess the reason for your leave and decide whether it can be granted. If the in-charge person does not grant the leave, it will be counted as unauthorized leave.
- For all unauthorized leave, 1.5 days of basic salary will be deducted.
- To apply for annual leave, you must apply 3 months in advance. Leave is granted only if the application is approved by the Team Leader or supervisor.
- Medical emergencies cannot be avoided. If you are on medical leave for more than 2 days, you must inform HR by submitting medical documents. Medical documents are handled under the Medical Leave Privacy & Records policy.
- After any official vacation, you cannot take leave on the first working day back. If an emergency occurs, you must attend on that first day and then apply for leave.
Support Team Leave Convention
Our customers are our top priority, which makes support an extremely important part of our business. We now provide 24/7 support for our customers, and we rely heavily on the Support Team for customer happiness. For this reason, the leave conventions for the Support Team differ from the general conventions.
The following rules apply to all leave except medical leave:
- Support Team members receive one Eid vacation. Which Eid the vacation falls on is determined by the Team Lead.
- To apply for a 1-day leave, you must apply 3 days in advance. Leave is granted only if the application is approved by the Team Leader and HR.
- To apply for more than one day of leave, you must apply 10 days in advance. Leave is granted only if the application is approved by your supervisor.
- For emergency leave, you must contact the in-charge person on that day. If the in-charge person does not grant the leave, it will be counted as unauthorized leave.
- For all unauthorized leave, 1.5 days of basic salary will be deducted.
- To apply for annual leave, you must apply 3 months in advance. Leave is granted only if the application is approved by the Team Leader and HR.
- If you are on medical leave for more than 2 days, you must submit medical documents to HR. Medical documents are handled under the Medical Leave Privacy & Records policy.
Vacation Compensation for the Support Team
Support Team members who are assigned to work during an Eid vacation receive additional compensation. If you are appointed to work on an Eid vacation, you must attend the office and perform your regular duties on that vacation. In return:
- You will receive an extra 25% of your Gross Salary immediately on that Eid, in addition to your Eid Bonus.
- A further 25% will be paid at the end of the year, based on your performance.
