Protected Principles
- Employees and applicants should not be treated unfairly because of gender, religion, sect, caste, ethnicity, language, disability, marital status, pregnancy, family status, age, or any other personal characteristic unrelated to the job.
- Hiring, confirmation, promotion, appraisal, increment, training, transfer, and separation decisions should be documented and linked to work-related reasons.
- Reasonable support may be considered where an employee has a medical, disability, family, or safety need and the support is practical for the business.
Manager Responsibilities
- Use consistent criteria when evaluating candidates and employees.
- Avoid favoritism, personal bias, pressure, or informal promises.
- Keep appraisal, attendance, discipline, and promotion records clear and evidence-based.
- Escalate discrimination concerns to HR rather than handling them informally.
Employee Responsibilities
- Treat colleagues, applicants, vendors, and clients with professional respect.
- Raise concerns if they see unfair treatment, discriminatory language, exclusion, or retaliation.
- Use the grievance process if a concern is not resolved by normal discussion.
